Co-created through participatory design, it equips garment workers, supervisors, and managers with the tools to speak, listen, and act, turning silence into collective strength.

Challenge
The apparel industry continues to face deep-rooted human rights challenges, especially inside high-pressure factories. Supervisors are often promoted for technical skill rather than people skills, creating environments where communication breaks down. In patriarchal settings, women workers face even greater barriers to voicing grievances. Without empathy-driven leadership, inequities persist and workers remain unheard.
Impact
Expected Outcomes
Baat Cheat would transform how factories communicate and care.
+50% workers confident voicing concerns
+40% faster grievance resolution
–30% reduction in turnover
+2× women participating in team discussions
Stronger wellbeing, empathetic leadership, and alignment with SDGs 5, 8, and 10.

Approach
A Human-Centered Approach to Worker Wellbeing
Baat Cheat is a participatory toolkit designed for fast-paced factory settings. Instead of focusing only on garment workers, it takes a three-pronged approach, empowering everyone involved:
Supervisors: Build soft skills and empathy to better manage teams, respond to grievances, and advocate for worker wellbeing.
Garment Workers: Recognize their own value in the supply chain, practice self-advocacy, and strengthen their collective voice.
Managers/Factory Owners: Understand their role as facilitators of safe, communicative, and equitable workplaces.
Each toolkit includes a QR code linking to audio-guided activities, role plays, reflections, and team exercises, that help participants identify issues, set priorities, and create action plans. The toolkit is accessible via an open-source microsite, so even factories that don’t buy it can use it, and factories can share their reflections directly with brands and customers.
